Maa Tujhe Pranam! Maa Tujhe Salaam!!

Impressions from a few disciples on the holy occasion of Sri Guru Purnima.

According to the "Gita", explained by Paramhansa Yogananda, I would like to quote his explanations to the 3 main approaches to realization.

1. Dhyana Yoga (meditation)

2. Sankhya Yoga (the path of discriminative wisdom)

3. Karma Yoga (path of right actions)

I was encouraged by GuruMaa to study the Gita. Here, I found the essence of its teachings, applicable to the occasion of Guru Purnima. Yoganandaji has said "listening to the Guru is an art that will take the disciple to the Supreme Goal”.

Maha Shiv Ratri

On the fourteenth day of Phalgun, one of the most auspicious and popular holidays of India, Maha Shivratri is celebrated. Literally this translates to 'The Great Night of Shiva’; with which, this festival is particularly dedicated to Shiva the destroyer.

Hope or Despair? Celebrate or Mourn?

Five key events have occurred in the past few weeks. Exhilarating pace. Great news. Amazing unfolding of these events is happening in front of our own eyes, due to the power of the 24 by 7 news channels and websites. I am talking about Cricket, Corruption, Japan, Satya Sai Baba’s passing away and the Royal Wedding.

Beautiful (Sunder) recitation of Sunderkand in our New York Matth!

With Baba's blessings it was a 'House Full' event even though most of our regular people were absent.

People left standing by the doors also held Sunderkand books in their hands and joined in. It was a beautiful and memorable rendering of the Sunderkand at our temple where one had to be there to fully appreciate it. Almost everyone who spoke to me was overwhelmed.

GuruMaa's short trip to our NY Ashram!
