Swine Flu Remedies

Many months ago, when the swine flu epidemic started in USA, I was also terrified as my daughter’s friend (from a different school) had contracted the flu and her school was shut down for a week. Very soon, many, many colleagues at work were having the swine flu. I was being extremely careful.

In August, when I went to India, the epidemic had become a pandemic, and Pune had its first cases. Everyone was worried. We saw many people wear masks. We also bough Tamiflu medicine and travelled with it in case we got the symptoms. We went to Lonavala for GuruMaa’s Darshan and She immediately gave me the preventative remedies for swine flu.

GuruMaa recommends the following:-

1. Take 7 leaves of Tulsi leaves, 30 leaves of Bel Paan (which is usually offered to Shivji) and 7 black peppers and boil them in water for 30 minutes. Drink this water al day for 2 weeks.

2. Take the same combination of ingredients and make a paste in ‘sarson ka tel’. Cool the paste down and store it in a clean bottle. Put 2 drops of this paste in your nostrils every moring and evening for 2 weeks.

3. Take 2 capsules of Haldi (Turmeric) with milk every night for 15 days.

The above will strengthen your immune system and help you prevent contracting the flu. But, everyone should continue to take all precautionary steps, as this flu is highly contagious.

Some examples:
1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
2. Wash your hands with soap and water very often
3. Avoid public places, and wear a mask if you have to travel or be in a public place (in a city where the epidemic is prelevant)
4. Contact your doctor immediately if you have flu-like symptoms and take a blood test to determine if you have the swine flu or not.

Urgent medical attention is needed if:
1. You have difficulty in breathing,
2. Pain in the chest or abdomen area,
3. Feel dizzy,
4. Vomiting or
5. Have flu-like symptoms like fever and cough

Pranayama and yoga exercises should be very helpful too. Try and practice Bhastrika Pranayama and Kapal Bhati Pranayama. There is no reason to panic. Precaution and preventative measures are always better then suffering. Yoga and ayurveda already have good remedies to improve your immune system and fully leverage our ancient remedies.
